From humble beginnings in 1948, with 33 medical students from across the Caribbean entering the fledgling University College in Jamaica, the University of the West Indies (UWI) has evolved into the region's flagship institution of higher learning, today serving more than 15 Caribbean countries. TTPost joins with UWI to celebrate the University's 60th Anniversary milestone with this special commemorative stamp collection, entitled “Celebrating Six Decades”. This project of the local organising committee for the 60th anniversary initiatives at the St. Augustine Campus, Trinidad and Tobago, features a range of icons associated with the University and particularly the St, Augustine Campus.
